Terms
Educational use, and its limits.
These terms explain what this site is, what it is explicitly not, and the conditions for using it.
Version 1.3 · effective 2026-09-01. JD ATLAS LLC operates The Pilot Method.
Who operates this site and what it is
JD ATLAS LLC operates The Pilot Method, which publishes independent educational material for pilots and for people considering flight training. Using the site means you accept these terms.
Written questions and notices go to fly@pilotmethodaviation.com, through the contact form, or by post to JD ATLAS LLC, 1625 Northwest 20th Street, Miami, Florida 33142, United States.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The agreed venue for disputes is Miami-Dade County, Florida, on a non-exclusive basis: nothing here removes a right you cannot waive under the consumer-protection law of the place you live, including the right to bring a claim where that law allows it.
Not FAA approved, and not an authorization
The Pilot Method is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. It is not an FAA-approved or certificated training provider, and nothing here is an FAA-approved course, curriculum, endorsement, sign-off, or authorization to act as pilot in command or to conduct any flight or operation.
Material here does not substitute for the current regulations, NOTAMs, an official weather briefing, the current POH or AFM for your aircraft, the approved checklist, the manufacturer's or a certificated mechanic's maintenance guidance, or instruction from a qualified, appropriately rated instructor.
Regulations, procedures and aircraft documentation change. Where we publish reference material we show its source mapping, content version and last-reviewed date; you remain responsible for verifying currency against the authoritative source before you rely on it.
Safety and final authority
The pilot in command holds final authority for the operation of an aircraft. Practice tools, readiness indicators and mock oral features are study aids only. They are not a practical test, not an evaluation of your competence, and not evidence of readiness for any checkride.
Accounts
You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for keeping your credentials secure. Accounts are personal; access granted to you is not transferable. Roles such as instructor are granted only after review, and we may suspend access that is misused.
Purchases
Purchases are not currently enabled on this site. No checkout is active, nothing can be charged, and any price shown is descriptive of a planned one-time purchase rather than an offer you can accept today. When purchasing is enabled, the applicable terms and the exact policy will be shown at checkout and on the refund policy page.
There is no subscription or membership offered on this site.
When purchasing is enabled, access to a purchased file or dataset is granted only after the payment processor confirms the payment. A purchase gives you a personal, nontransferable license to use that material for your own training.
The Private Pilot Course, when it is offered, will be a one-time purchase of $199 USD. It is not a subscription and it does not renew automatically. Its price, its refund terms and every limitation on them are shown in full, before payment, on the refund policy page and again at checkout, where you must tick an unchecked box to accept them. The course is Part 61 home-study support. It is not FAA approved, it is not a Part 141 approved course, and finishing it never produces an automatic endorsement — a qualified instructor decides that manually, or not at all.
Your use of the material
Content on this site, including any purchased file, is licensed to you personally and nontransferably for your own training use. Do not redistribute, resell, republish, sublicense, or share files or account access. Automated scraping, bulk downloading and mirroring are not permitted. Access that is shared or misused may be suspended or terminated.
JD ATLAS LLC retains all rights in its original text, graphics, page and product organisation, and the software that runs this site. Regulatory text and other government-source content remains subject to its own status. See the copyright and acceptable use page.
Availability and changes
The site is provided as it is, without any warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. We may change, suspend or withdraw features and material. To the extent permitted by law, JD ATLAS LLC is not liable for any decision made in reliance on this material; you are responsible for verifying anything that affects a flight.
