Terms

Your training. Your terms.

The terms for our ground-school courses, learning products and online services.

Archived version 1.10 · effective 2026-10-05. JD ATLAS LLC operates The Pilot Method.

Read archived version 1.9. Earlier acceptance records remain unchanged.

Who operates this site and what it is

JD ATLAS LLC operates The Pilot Method, which publishes independent educational material for pilots and for people considering flight training. Using the site means you accept these terms.

Written questions and notices go to fly@pilotmethodaviation.com, through the contact form, or by post to JD ATLAS LLC, 1625 Northwest 20th Street, Apt 338, Miami, Florida 33142, United States.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. The agreed venue for disputes is Miami-Dade County, Florida, on a non-exclusive basis: nothing here removes a right you cannot waive under the consumer-protection law of the place you live, including the right to bring a claim where that law allows it.

Account and product access

Creating an account does not grant access to any product.

Access is recorded per product and per payment source. A one-time purchase and a paid All Access subscription have different access periods.

Your checkout lists the exact products included. Course bundles include their specified Written Prep bank and study guide. Instructor privileges are separate.

Instructor access is verified by us. Asking for it during sign-up records a request and nothing more.

Your account holds your profile, your account type, and the products you have access to. Access is granted per product — signing in does not open anything you have not been given.

Ground school and instructor endorsements

The Pilot Method offers online ground-school courses through the Part 61 home-study pathway. After completing the required course work, students may request knowledge-test endorsement review by an authorized instructor. The instructor evaluates preparation and eligibility and issues the applicable endorsement when its requirements are met. FAA affiliation or Part 141 school approval is not claimed.

Use current regulations, NOTAMs, weather information and the actual aircraft's AFM/POH and checklist when preparing for a flight. Required flight instruction, aeronautical experience, practical-test endorsements and maintenance approvals retain their own requirements. Course study or a purchase does not by itself authorize a flight.

Regulations, procedures and aircraft documentation change. Where we publish reference material we show its source mapping, content version and last-reviewed date; you remain responsible for verifying currency against the authoritative source before you rely on it.

Safety and final authority

The pilot in command holds final authority for the operation of an aircraft. Practice tools, readiness indicators and mock oral features are study aids only. They are not a practical test, not an evaluation of your competence, and not evidence of readiness for any checkride.

Accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details and for keeping your credentials secure. Accounts are personal; access granted to you is not transferable. Roles such as instructor are granted only after review, and we may suspend access that is misused.

All Access subscription

When its checkout is available, Pilot Method All Access costs $39.99 USD per month and renews automatically until canceled. It includes the published products listed on themembership page for each paid period.

Cancel renewal from Account → Membership → Cancel renewal before the next renewal. Access continues through the paid period. Independent purchases and saved learning records are retained. Membership Written Prep has the paid monthly term, not the 24-month term of a one-time purchase.

The membership page presents the exact subscription license, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms before you accept and proceed to payment.

Purchases

Each of our six standalone courses is offered as a $99 USD one-time purchase with lifetime access. A charge can be created only through an active checkout on its product page, after you sign in and explicitly accept the documents presented there. The applicable terms and exact refund policy are available before payment on the refund policy page.

The active course offer includes the Written Prep bank and study guide shown at checkout. Pilot Method All Access is a separate monthly subscription governed by the subscription terms on its membership page.

Access is granted only after the payment processor confirms the payment. A purchase gives you a personal, nontransferable license to use the product for your own training. The Private Pilot Course costs $99 USD, does not renew automatically, and is governed by the price, refund terms and limitations shown in full before payment on the refund policy page and at checkout, where you must tick an unchecked box to accept them. The course provides Part 61 ground school through home study. Students who complete the required course work can request knowledge-test endorsement review through our contact page. An authorized instructor reviews preparation and eligibility before issuing the endorsement. Endorsements are not generated automatically by page completion.

Product-specific purchase and refund terms

The resources included in a course are identified on its product page and in its checkout offer. A versioned order receipt preserves the inclusions for that purchase. The same refund conditions apply to all course purchases:

Request a full refund within 7 calendar days of purchase, with server-recorded course completion below 80%, no request for final instructor review or a knowledge-test endorsement, and no completion credential issued. Any guide or Written Prep explicitly included at checkout is part of the same course purchase.

Individual PDF guides, The Flight Review Guide and bundles containing only PDFs: Final sale: this PDF purchase is nonrefundable, whether or not the file has been opened or downloaded. Rights that cannot be waived under applicable law and the remedy for material non-delivery still apply.

Written Test Prep PAR, IRA and CAX: Request a full refund within 14 calendar days of purchase. No limits on questions answered, practice exams taken, or other usage.

Standalone Written Test Prep is sold per exam bank, with 24 months of access from confirmed payment, no subscription or automatic renewal, and no additional charges for practice, mock exams or repeats. It does not include a course, guide or official test fee.

The current price and inclusions for the exact product are shown on its product page and at checkout. See the complete refund policy for requests, processing and rights that cannot be waived.

If a course offer explicitly includes a Written Prep bank, that bank lasts 24 months from that course's confirmed payment. Course and included guide access do not expire when Written access ends. Included resources follow the course purchase's refund conditions, not the separate standalone Written refund window. An earlier independent purchase is not shortened, replaced or refunded by buying or refunding another product. No retroactive inclusion is implied for historical orders.

Version 1.10 applies to purchases accepted under these terms from 2026-10-05. Existing acceptance records are kept unchanged.Archived Terms 1.6.

Online instructor sessions

Where online booking is available, the booking screen presents the instructor, duration, total price and applicable cancellation policy before checkout. Instructor sessions have separate booking terms; the course and PDF refund windows do not automatically apply to them. See the instructor marketplace terms.

A course completion record or session debrief is not an FAA endorsement. Any required endorsement must be issued by an appropriately authorized instructor after that instructor determines the applicable requirements are met.
