Pilot Tools · Quick Reference

The rule, and where it comes from.

Short review on the questions pilots actually re-check, with the controlling source named and linked on every card.

Educational review. It is not a substitute for the current regulations, NOTAMs, a weather briefing, the AFM/POH, or your instructor.

Source graph

This first collection contains 12 source-mapped foundational cards, all open to everyone. Each one names the controlling current source, carries its own version and review date, and defers to that source.

Source and version standard

Each card is written against the current text of the cited primary source on eCFR, plus the named FAA publication where one applies.

Phase 1: 12 published source-mapped cards · reviewed 2026-08-31.

What this is not

  • Learning and review support only — not a legal determination for any flight, aircraft, or pilot.
  • Not an aircraft-specific procedure: the POH/AFM, its supplements, and approved checklists control the airplane you fly.
  • Not a substitute for current FAA publications, NOTAMs, or a weather briefing.
  • Not a substitute for qualified maintenance support, your operator's requirements, or your instructor.
  • Summaries are shortened by design. Where a card and the linked source differ, the source controls.

What this is, and what it is not

Who it is for
Certificated pilots re-checking the Part 91 rules that come up before a flight, a flight review or an IPC.
What you finish with
Re-read the controlling rule for a specific question — VFR minimums, preflight action, inoperative equipment, airworthiness — and open the exact eCFR section behind it.
Included today
  • 12 source-mapped cards, all open to everyone, each naming its controlling section
  • Search plus category and tag filters across the set
  • Per-card version and review date, and a direct link to the current eCFR text
Try it first
Open the §91.155 basic VFR weather minimums card: the summary, the controlling section, and the link to the current text.
Version
quick-reference-v1.0 · last reviewed 2026-08-31
Who reviewed it
Each card is written in-house against the section it cites and carries the date a human last opened that section. Cards are not published without that check.
Limits
  • Review material, not operational authority. The eCFR text controls.
  • Not current flight data: no NOTAMs, no weather briefing, no TFRs.
  • Twelve cards are published. The wider paid library is not complete and is not on sale.
